Vallejo and England Earn Men’s Basketball All-Conference Honors for Piedmont

With the USA South Tournament beginning yesterday, the league has announced the 2016-17 USA South All-Conference awards listing with Piedmont’s JUSTIN VALLEJO and CHASE ENGLAND earning a place on the listing.


For both, this marks the first time making the all-conference listing though Vallejo was named USA South Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Vallejo earned second team honors as he led the team averaging 15.6 points per contest and was eighth in the league in scoring average while finishing fifth in rebounds per game averaging 7.8.

England earned a spot on the Honorable Mention listing finishing second on the team in scoring averaging 13.4 points per game and second on the team behind Vallejo averaging 5.7 rebounds per game.

Senior KELLY ASSINESI was Piedmont’s All-Sportsmanship honoree joining one member from each of the 11 teams in the league.

As the #6 seed, the Lions will face #3 Maryville Thursday at 1 p.m. at Averett in Danville, Virginia in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
