Truett Bears baseball moves to 11-3

The Truett McConnell baseball team scored five runs in the third inning to put the game away in a 7-3 victory over Southern Wesleyan.

The Bears are now 11-3 overall.

After a Warrior run in the first inning, Casey Guilliams homered in the third inning, scoring two runs to give the Bears the lead. TMU didn’t stop there as the Bears got two runs off of pitching miscues by Southern Wesleyan before Austin Thomas brought home the final run of the inning with a RBI single.

The Bears and Warriors remained at a 5-1 score until the bottom of the eighth when Austin Bishop and Patrick Overstreet had RBI singles to score two more runs.

Hayden Carey earned the win, scattering three hits in six innings and striking out three.

The Bears will next host Marian University for four games this weekend, starting with a noon doubleheader on Friday.
