With the first round of the USA South Tournament approaching this weekend, the USA South has announced the 2016-17 USA South All-Conference awards listing with Piedmont’s BRIANNA BARRETT earning a first team all-conference spot in the West Division.
The USA South announced an All-Conference listing containing athletes from both divisions as well as first team and second team honors in each division. All awards are voted on by the women’s basketball coach at each institution with the divisional team voting completed only by those coaches in the particular division.
For Barrett, the senior has made her third straight all-conference listing as she was an honorable mention selection each of the past two seasons. Barrett is tied for best on the team in points per game averaging 9.5 while averaging over 28 minutes per contest. The senior from Cornelia, Georgia has a team-best 3-point shooting percentage for players making more than five 3-pointers making 43% of her shots from behind the arc.
Senior ERIN CLIFFORD was Piedmont’s All-Sportsmanship honoree joining one member from each of the 16 teams in the league.
As the #2 seed out of the West Division, the Lady Lions will host the first round of the tournament as Salem and Huntingdon face one another on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside Cave Arena with PC taking on the winner of that contest Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
