TMU golf coach Patton participates in PGA Coaching Summit

Truett McConnell golf coach Steve Patton participated in the Georgia PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit in November at Idle Hour Club in Macon, Georgia.

The lead instructor was Michael Breed, who is well known for being the host of the popular show call The Golf Fix, which comes on Monday nights on The Golf Channel.

Breed took other PGA members through best practices in short game through wedge play, putting stroke mechanics and putter fitting, full swing instruction with a live lesson, and professional development. It was a great opportunity to connect with other PGA Professionals around the state, discuss best practices, learn about junior golf in the state, and discuss future golf prospects with other teaching professionals.

Coach Patton had this to say about the event; “I enjoyed getting to meet a lot of new teaching professionals around the state of Georgia, discuss players they are currently working with, and widening my recruiting base through this process.  Michael Breed did a tremendous job of laying out his teaching methods and philosophies, and I enjoyed the discussions and interactions with him and other PGA members about best practices on the lesson tee.  Idle Hour Club was a wonderful host and it was a joy to be able to see their world class teaching facility and all they have to offer their members.  It would be my dream one day to be able to have a learning center similar to what they have at Idle Hour Club, and be able to offer instruction during the day for my students to improve every aspect of their games.”

The Truett McConnell golf teams will start spring practices in the coming weeks before kicking off the spring season at the Montreat Cavalier Spring Invitational in March.
