A Clayton woman is dead following a pickup truck accident in Rabun County. Authorities say 57-year Delia Harris Jacobs was killed in a crash on GA 2/Highway 76 East.
Jacobs was driving a 1991 Chevy C1500 pickup toward Clayton when she ran off the road. TFC Aaron Church of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa says Jacobs “overcorrected, crossed the center line, and then traveled off the left side of the roadway.” The truck traveled across the shoulder, down an embankment and struck the valley of the embankment with its front end. It overturned and came to rest upside down facing south.
There was no one else in the vehicle. Church says the actual time of the crash is not known. He says Jacobs was last seen around 6 p.m. Tuesday. The crash was reported around 12:33 p.m. today.
This is the second fatal accident on area roads this week.
A Mount Airy woman died Tuesday in an accident on Duncan Bridge Road in Baldwin. 57-year old Marsha Dodd was killed when her car ran off the road, went down an embankment and struck several trees.
Editor’s Note: Jacobs was from Clayton, not Clayton County. The copy has been corrected to reflect that.
