Dr. Jonathan Pilkington, assistant professor of music at Piedmont College, will present a vocal recital at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, in the Chapel at the campus in Demorest.
Pilkington will be accompanied on guitar by Dr. Nicolas Deuson. The concert is free and everyone is invited. The Piedmont Chapel is located at 992 Central Avenue, Demorest
Pilkington will perform works in English, French, German, and Spanish from the 16th to the 21th century by composers including John Dowland, Fernando Sor, Franz Schubert, Mátyás Sieber, and Evan Lewis. Pilkington holds degrees in music from Shorter College and Westminster Choir College and earned a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Georgia.
Deuson studied guitar at UGA and the Cleveland Institute of Music and earned a doctorate in music from the University of Southern California. He was the first-prize winner in the 2010 Pacific Guitar Competition and semifinalist in the 2009 Tokyo International Guitar Competition.
