It was an incredible run for Rabun County and Commerce, but both fell on the road Friday night to end their 2016 seasons.
The Wildcats traveled to take on powerhouse #2 Fitzgerald, who won 35-16. The Wildcats were hindered by a number of questionable calls by the officials in the process, but ultimately could not stop the Fitzgerald run game.
Rabun closes the season at 11-1, making the state quarterfinals for the second straight season and third time in school history. For Commerce, it was the third straight run that went at least to the quarterfinals as well.
The Tigers fell 44-0 to Clinch County, the team that beat them in the Semifinals a year ago. The Tigers went 9-3 on the season and are 28-10 in the last three years combined.
