In his lifetime my father wore many different hats but none more proudly than this. He, like all veterans, knew the true price of freedom.
America’s veterans and their families have gone places and given more than most of us can ever imagine. Our nation was built on their courage and sacrifice and thrives on their willingness to do what others will not.
Today, we are living their legacy.
Whether you’re celebrating or protesting this week’s election results remember, it’s because of our veterans that you have the right to do so. It’s because of our veterans that more than 120 million of us were able to freely go to the polls this week and safely vote. It’s because of our veterans that the reins of power are being handed over on handshakes and not bullets. And it’s because of our veterans that America will endure.
