A motorcyclist eluded arrest Sunday after leading law enforcement on a wild chase through three North Georgia counties.
The chase began shortly after 11 a.m. on U.S. 129 near Blood Mountain in Lumpkin County. Officials say a Georgia State Trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle for not displaying a tag.
Sgt. First Class Tim Meyer of the State Patrol Post in Cumming says the biker fled from the trooper. A chase ensued.
The chase lasted over an hour as the biker led authorities through Lumpkin, Union and White Counties.
Roadblock
After encountering a roadblock at the intersection of Highways 115 and 52 in Murrayville, the biker doubled back towards Cleveland. “The motorcycle fled back into White County and turned south on SR 284 for a brief time where contact was lost again,” says Meyer. “A short time later, White County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the bike on SR 115 East and pursued it towards Habersham County.”
Meyer says officials lost contact with the motorcycle near Duncan Bridge Road. It was last seen traveling towards Habersham on Highway 115 around 12:22 p.m. Sunday.
