Lady Bears Fly Past Screaming Eagles

The Truett McConnell women’s basketball team notched its first win of the season with a 90-33 win over Toccoa Falls Tuesday night at the Lois DeLany Athletic Center. The Bears are now 1-1 under Tron Griffin.

The Bears trailed early to the Screaming Eagles, 9-2, but they quickly got into the lead behind the strong shooting of Anna Murr.

TMU led 22-12 after one quarter of play and continued to ride the hot shooting into the second quarter, giving up just three points while scoring 22 more to take a 44-15 lead to the break.

The Bears continued to put up points off of TFC turnovers as they coasted to the big win.

The 57-point victory marks the largest margin of victory for TMU since the 2009-10 season.

Janae’ Simpson finished with a double-double consisting of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Murr led the Bears with a game-high 17 points on 5-13 shooting from distance. Quinlan Hughes finished with 16 points, while Ariana Sanders contributed 14 points. Ashleigh Stanley finished with eight assists, the most in the past two seasons in a single game.
