Wind ensemble fans have two opportunities to hear music by large and small groups at Piedmont College Nov. 5 and Nov. 15 in the Chapel at the campus in Demorest. Admission is free and everyone is invited.
At 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, Dianasue Walton will direct the Piedmont Chamber Ensembles, followed by a performance of the 40-member Piedmont Wind Ensemble, directed by Vicki Pinson. Guest conductors will include graduate assistant Cole Martin and brass instructor David Arvold.
At 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, Walton will direct the Piedmont Woodwind Ensemble, followed by the Wind Ensemble Partnership Concert, directed by Vicki Pinson. Guest conductors will include Martin and Arvold. Senior Frazier Smith will direct his own composition, “Sunrise Fanfare.”
The Partnership Concert will feature the Piedmont Wind Ensemble joined by musicians from five area high schools, including Banks County High School, director Jon Congdon; East Hall High School, director Craig Cantrell; Habersham Central High School, director Ryan Dukes; Jackson County High School, director Nick Golding; and Rabun County High School, director Spencer Salter.
