South Habersham Middle School students in Mrs. Holly Smith and Mrs. Christy Thompson’s E-Squared classes created sidewalk chalk ‘thinking maps’ after reading short stories.
Thinking Maps are consistent visual patterns linked directly to eight specific thought processes. By visualizing thinking, students and teachers are able to create concrete images of abstract thoughts.
In this case, students were given a topic related to the stories they read to discuss. They then had to choose and fill in the map that was appropriate to the topic.
