Tips from community lead to drug arrest

A Toccoa man is in jail on drug charges after a four month long investigation by local deputies and drug agents. 64-year old Michael Roberts was arrested Oct. 17th.

According to the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies and ARDEO agents “acted on multiple tips received from the community” and initiated a search warrant at 5020 Talmadge Drive in Toccoa.

ARDEO says the search resulted in the seizure of approximately one quarter pound of high grade marijuana packaged for sale, and quantities of schedule II pharmaceuticals (hydrocodone and Dextroamphetamine) also packaged for distribution.

The estimated street value of the seized contraband is $4000.00.  Agents also seized two firearms.

Roberts will be charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute.
