Habersham County United Way is in the final stages of planning for three fall fundraisers. All three events will take place in the next two months. Money raised will go toward meeting this year’s campaign goal of $575,000.
Clay Shoot on Oct. 15th
The first event is the Charity Sporting Clays Shoot on Saturday, October 15th from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 2320 Hardman Road in Clarkesville (just past NGTC off of HWY 197). This shooting tournament is open to anyone over 18 years in age, but limited to 40 teams (160 shooters). There will be 10-12 shooting stations dependent on the final team count. Cost is $125 per individual shooter or $400 per team. Individual shooters will be placed on teams.
Registration fees include clay targets and a BBQ lunch donated by local businesses. All participants must provide their own shells for the tournament as well as protective, shatterproof eye wear and hearing protection.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams as well as the top overall shooter.
Pre-registration is recommended for a guaranteed spot and event t-shirt, but registrations will be open on the morning of the event on a first come basis.

Admission for the event is $200 and includes entry for two, gourmet dinner buffet provided by Honeybrook Catering, two alcoholic beverages and the chance to take home $10,000! Attire is smart casual. A cash bar will be available for additional drinks including beer & wine. Several amazing silent auction items will also be available to bid on during the course of the evening as the $10,000 winner is narrowed down.
Dinner entertainment will be provided by the Kip Dockery Trio. The ticket holder does not have to be present to win but must have someone representing them in case of a decision to split the winnings when the drawing is down to five finalists.
Tickets are available online through EventBrite or by contacting the Habersham United Way office at 706-778-0620.
Paint A Brighter Tomorrow
In 2015, the Habersham United Way funded 25 local agencies and programs that in turn provided much needed services in this community. In a press release announcing the events, organizers say all three of these events are an integral part of the fundraising efforts for the 2016 Campaign.
“Thanks to the very generous donations of numerous community businesses and individuals, almost all expenses have been covered through donations,” the release states. “That means registrations and ticket sales will go a long way to helping the group reach their 2016 Campaign Goal of $575,000.”
It’s not too late to become a Community Partner for one of these events or to attend and participate. Join the Habersham County United Way as it works to “Paint A Brighter Tomorrow” for Habersham County!
