(Cleveland)- There was an increased law enforcement presence at all White County Schools Thursday morning. White County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Wilson said by email, school officials were made aware at 9:30 pm Wednesday night that a middle school student had overheard a group of students talking about bringing a gun to school Thursday.
Wilson said after a thorough investigation late into the evening, it was discovered that the boys were talking about “Nerf” guns and having a “Nerf war”.
According to Wilson, there was not a threat, but they wanted to take extra precautions, so extra law enforcement were placed at each school.
Wilson said, “We are very happy this was not an actual threat to our students.”
“I cannot thank Chief Foster, Sheriff Walden, Public Safety Director David Murphy and all of our law officers for their support through this process,” said, Dr. Wilson.
