Life seems darker at night. And not just literally. Some nights the hours just tick by. Worry fills our minds. We can think of things at 2:15 am that we couldn’t think of all day long.
In Philippians 4:6, Paul writes, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” I thought of this scripture as I watched the digital minutes click away on my cell phone 2:30am, 3:00am, 4:15am…
Our faith has to overcome our fear. At times it is easier said than done when our circumstances tend to yell a bit louder. Faith comes by hearing – hearing the Words of God. When we make time to hear Him, His promises ring true, even when the world around us speaks contrary to our beliefs. I’ve learned, when God is front and center in my life, it really doesn’t matter what the outside world throws at me because He is my rock, my shield, and my refuge. No matter the trial, no matter the news, no matter the heartache, God hears our every word, holds our every tear, and loves us gently through it.
What is keeping you up at night? God tells us to cast our cares upon Him (Psalm 55:22) because then we will keep in perfect peace whose minds are steadfast (Isaiah 26:3) and trust in Him.
Our panic can turn to peace even when the situation is the same, because we can trust a solution is on the way in Him.
