Birdell Blalock Wade, age 90 of Alto passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016.
Born in Habersham County on May 28, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Albert Buren and Mahala Nix Blalock. Mrs. Wade worked retail for a number of years and was recently attending Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church. She enjoyed quilting, reading, putting puzzles together, camping and traveling. Mrs. Wade was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance G. Wade; brothers, Kelton, Paul, Alec and Hershel Blalock; and sister, Cona Bell Morris.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Mahala & Pastor David Moody of Alto, and Vancine & Charles Chandler of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis & Vicki Wade of Demorest, and Chris & Beverly Wade of Cleveland; grandchildren, LaDon Shaw, LauraLee Burrell, Charlene Anderson, Cherèe Charles, P.J. Hulsey, Lana Jones, Talia Wade-Gray, and Shaphan Wade; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Burrell and Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor David Moody officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
