Suspect sought in attempted armed robbery

Gunman flees when store clerk screams

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect wanted for attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault at a convenience store in Demorest.

The incident happened August 22 at the EZ Kwik Trip located at 2368 Highway 115.

According to a press release issued Thursday, HCSO says officers were called to the scene at 9:45 p.m. Monday. The store clerk reported she was preparing to close the store when a masked gunman confronted her outside. The suspect was armed with what appears to be a semi automatic pistol. The clerk stated she began to scream and the suspect ran from the area.

Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate him.

The suspect, seen in these surveillance photos, is described as a male around 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 175-200 pounds. He was wearing a grey hoodie, dark ski mask and goggles.

The sheriff’s office is wanting any information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed it.
