(Gainesville, GA) – Homestar team members were greeted by two special guests at a company luncheon on August 24. Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Georgia State Representative Terry Rogers stopped by Homestar’s corporate offices at the Gym of ’36 building in Gainesville to tour the facilities and meet with staff, as well as enjoy some lunch from Johnny’s BBQ.
“We are so honored to have Brian and Terry here with us today,” said Hunt. “They have been a big part of helping us with a number of endeavors, and have brought awareness to Homestar at a state level,” Hunt continued as he introduced Kemp and Rogers.
Kemp and Rogers presented Homestar with an “Outstanding Georgia Business” award in April at the state capitol earlier in the year, and took the luncheon as an opportunity to learn more about the company and visit with Homestar President Wes Hunt and his team.
“I want to tell you, first of all, how glad we are to be here today,” said Rogers, of his visit with long-time friend, Kemp. “Companies like Homestar are out there doing really good things, being a part of the community and fulfilling the needs of the people,” Rogers continued.
Rogers went on to speak about the state’s impressive statistics, touching on the number one ranking of Georgia in the nation of the best states in which to do business, as well as the $6 billion economic impact from the ever-growing film and television industry consistently choosing Georgia as a primary location.
“What this means for you is tremendous; the opportunities are great,” Rogers said, addressing the room of employees. “Homestar has always stepped into the void and I want to tell you how much we appreciate that. I am constantly amazed and I thank you for all that you do for this community, Wes,” Rogers continued.
Rogers then introduced Kemp to say a few words to the crowd.
“You’re doing productive things here at Homestar, helping people get mortgages and financed, and that’s important in the lives of everyday working Georgians and small business owners,” said Kemp, who also thanked Hunt and Homestar for having them at the luncheon. “I just want to thank you for the commitment and what you do every day to help the company, which I know is a vital member to this community,” he continued.
Rogers ended with more praise for Homestar. “Secretary Kemp and I have spoken often over the last week about a couple of different things and what we both agreed upon is a real testament to Homestar’s leadership. Brian said to me, ‘Homestar has the type of attitude that we should try to instill to our great employees in our state government. Homestar doesn’t say no unless they absolutely have to, and always makes the effort to get the job done.’ That’s one of the criteria why Secretary of State Brian Kemp named Homestar an ‘Outstanding Georgia Business,’ and I just wanted you all to know that,” Rogers concluded.
