(Cleveland)- The flood waters are beginning to recede in sections of Baton Rouge where flooding has devastated the area. The Bridge Church in Cleveland has joined efforts to collect relief supplies for the people in that area.
Cheryl Kennedy, Community Care Director for the church said, The Bridge Church is collecting non perishable (pop the top) food items and bottled water to be sent to Louisiana.
She said, items can be donated at the Bridge Church by this Sunday. The efforts of the Cleveland church is part of a larger effort, Operation Compassion, that has already sent semi-trailer loads of supplies and products to the area. Kennedy said, the items collected here will accompany backpacks and school supplies they had left over Back 2 School Bash a couple of weeks ago.
The church is sending the supplies down now and Kennedy says, hopefully a local team will be going to the area soon to help.
