Demorest, GA – Susan Deborah King, artist-in-residence at the Piedmont College Lillian E. Smith Center in Clayton, will be reading from her work at 4 p.m.,Tuesday, Jan. 13, in Jenkins Lobby on the first floor of Daniel Hall at the Demorest Campus.
King is the author of several collections of poems, including “Dropping into the Flower” and “Coven.” A survivor of breast cancer, she confronts mortality and connects with the suffering of others in her powerful collection titled “One-Breasted Woman.” She is the editor of an anthology to be published in 2015, “Out of the Depths: Poetry of Poverty–Courage and Resilience,” which is a project of the Poverty Initiative of the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She teaches creative writing and leads retreats on spirituality and creativity in Minneapolis and Maine.
