Piedmont’s Jake Forbes Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

Junior JAKE FORBES has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar announced this week by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Forbes finished the 2015-16 season with a 76.50 average through 14 rounds finishing tied for 12th individually three times during the season.

Forbes and the Piedmont men’s golf team won the season opener at the 10th annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational with a team score of 603, winning the event by 16 strokes. The Lions finished fifth in the USA South Championship Tournament posting the best finish at the tournament in program history.

The rising senior and his teammates will be under new leadership this year as JP Kircher takes over the reigns of the program as the Director of Golf and Head Men’s Golf Coach. Kircher carries NCAA Tournament experience with him to Demorest following a four-year playing career at Division III member Huntingdon College in Alabama.

A total of 212 players in Division I, 91 in Division II and 12 in NAIA earned the honor. Additionally, 41 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.

 

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
