Alice Stamey Moore Ward

Funeral services for Alice Stamey Moore Ward, age 83 of Alto, will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery and the family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 10 AM until 2 PM.

Mrs. Ward passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 surrounded by her living family.

Born in Habersham county on September 6, 1931, Mrs. Ward was the daughter of the late Jake and Cordila Thomas Stamey. Mrs. Ward was of the Baptist faith and she was a homemaker. She had worked in childcare for many years as well as in several areas of the poultry industry. Mrs. Ward had also worked at several local motels in housekeeping. Mrs. Ward enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her first husband Frank Moore, her second husband Talmage Ward, son Larry Moore, daughter Juney Moore, brothers Bob, Bill, and Clyde Stamey, and sisters Carolyn Whisnant, Sarah Brooks, Mary Yarnell, Carolyn Hamilton, and Bessie Shook.

Survivors include children Phyllis Dills of Cornelia, Shelia Weaver (Terry) of Alto, and Deborah Gosnell of Alto, Douglas Moore (Cynthia) of Alto, Gary Moore (Shelia) of Alto, Manuel Moore of Cornelia, and Janice Ward of Atlanta, step children Billy Ward (Faye) of Demorest, William Ward (Naomi) of Demorest, Beverly McVey (Michael) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Betty Graig (Lonnie) of Toccoa, as well as 34 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
