Eight Truett McConnell teams were named NAIA Scholar-Teams for the 2015-16 season as announced Friday afternoon by the association.
Six women’s teams were recognized, while two men’s teams earned the honor.
Women’s soccer (3.56 GPA), cross country (3.50), basketball (3.34), golf (3.15), softball (3.13) and volleyball (3.07) had grade point averages that met the requirements to be named Scholar Teams. Men’s golf (3.01) and baseball (3.05) also made the grade.
For teams to be named NAIA Scholar-Teams, they must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
Missouri Baptist’s women’s golf team was named Scholar-Team of the Year after posting an NAIA-best combined 3.95 GPA. Reinhardt led the AAC in most teams given the distinction with 16.
