Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Banks County. It happened Saturday around 7:49 p.m. at a residence on Grove Level Road. According to Banks County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carissa McFadden, deputies were advised that the suspects stole cash and a black Toyota passenger car from the residence.
As deputies were responding to the area, the vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle was observed on Grove Level Road. At exactly 8:01 p.m., deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled to Hembree Road where they were met by another deputy. The driver then stopped and both suspects surrendered.
The two juvenile suspects, both from the Homer area, have been detained. Their names are being withheldn because of their age.
“We have been advised that the victims in this case did know the suspects and that the suspects did brandish a .22 caliber handgun when committing the criminal act,” McFadden says.
Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed credits the recent addition of zone assignments and increase of personnel on shifts. “The quickness and efficiency of our deputies’ response has proven the need for additional manpower in our county and assignments in particular zones. Although we are unable to be everywhere at once, we are using our resources wisely by covering more areas of our county. The rise in call volume and incidents within our jurisdiction have proven that this has been inevitable for our community.”
