Father’s Day

Today our small family group will gather for Father’s Day. Florine has her special chocolate ready for the occasion.

We make family group snapshots of all the special occasions thru the year and place in the Family Photo File. As each generation fades away the individuals and their personal history usually disappears except for a few photos in albums. I have 14 volumes of my life in three ring notebooks and believe in all honesty I had a varied and exciting life!

A country boy reared in an obscure valley in the mountains left home for college and then spent 22 years in the Air Force. I was in the Korean and Vietnam wars & three years on Luzon Island, an amazing adventure there different from war but unbelievable things happened. I did what I read about as a kid: adventure, travel in the west where Zane Grey wrote about, hunting and fishing and camping in the Rockies in Colorado and Wyoming; traveling by train, car and plane all across America and three ocean voyages, all to and from the Far East. I rode a Japanese train driven by steam engine all down that island nation and saw Hiroshima destroyed by the first atomic bomb. I survived from a wound and found angels enroute to hospitals and rehab. I saw the Golden Gate Bridge shining in the morning sunlight after three years abroad.

So much this former farmer’s boy saw and did. I thank God every day for his love and mercy in my life!
