Elsie Mae Andrews

Elsie Mae Wilbanks Andrews, age 96, of Baldwin, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

Mrs. Andrews was born on February 3, 1920, to the late Gill and Samantha Payne Wilbanks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carmon Andrews, five brothers, and five sisters. Mrs. Andrews retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 20 years of service and was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Lamar Christian Church.

She was a precious woman to her family and all that knew her. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Carmon for 52 years, who passed away in 1998. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and loved to cook for them as long as she was able. Most of all, she was a Christian lady that loved God, the church, and her Bible. She has truly been an inspiration to all the family and an example to know how to be a devoted Christian. The angels rejoiced when Nanny entered “Heaven.”

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne and Linda Andrews, Dwight and Trudy Andrews, and Carroll and Becky Andrews, all of Baldwin, GA; grandchildren and spouses: Keith and Rhonda Andrews, Scott and Libby Andrews, Brandy and Chris Turpin, Alecia and Jeremy Edge, and Adam and Ruth Andrews; grandchild: Jacob Andrews; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at Lamar Christian Church with Pastor Chad Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
