With just two weeks left before the mid-term election – and with early voting well underway – Democrats are making a final push to gain ground in Georgia.
Josh McCall is one of them. The Franklin County native is running against 9th District Congressman Doug Collins.
McCall has made Town Hall meetings a hallmark of his bid for the seat. He launched an ambitious series of ten Town Halls across the northern part of the state in an effort to reach out to local communities and 9th district voters.
“When I started campaigning, I saw a lack of outreach from elected officials. Many of the counties in Georgia’s 9th district never even had a visit—not a town hall, not a parade appearance, nothing—from their congressman,” McCall says.
Collins has held the 9th District seat since 2013. He’s a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and is the favorite to win in the deeply red district. Still, despite waging what his camp describes as a ‘David fighting a Goliath’ campaign, McCall has refused to accept corporate PAC money and has made it a point to visit every county in the district.
Tonight, he’ll hold another in his series of Town Hall meetings in Lumpkin County. McCall will appear alongside Fred Swann, the Democratic candidate for state Agriculture Commissioner.
Tonight’s Town Hall begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Lumpkin County Parks and Recreations Center located at 365 Riley Road, Dahlonega, Ga 30533.
