A 13-year-old 8th grader is in juvenile custody after being arrested for making a threat against White County Middle School.
White County Sheriff Rick Kelley says authorities were made aware of the threat Monday evening, September 9.
“Investigators with White County Sheriff’s Office immediately followed up on the information,” says Kelley in a press release.
Authorities charged the teen with two counts of disrupting the operation of a public school. The juvenile has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
His arrest was at least the third in Northeast Georgia on Monday for school threats.
Local law enforcement and school systems have been dealing with a rash of threats since the Apalachee High School shooting in Winder on September 4.
