A wreck Friday involving a Hall County school bus injured eight people, including four students, the Georgia State Patrol says.
Troopers responded to the crash on Barrett Road in the area of Dorsey Peek Road around 4:19 p.m. on August 9. They say a school bus was stopped on Barrett Road with its stop sign and red lights activated. A westbound Jeep Compass negotiating a curve tried to stop for the bus, ran off the road, and struck a mailbox. The Jeep then traveled back onto the roadway striking the left side of the school bus.
Both vehicles received disabling damage, says GSP spokesperson Courtney Lund.
The driver and two passengers in the Jeep received minor injuries from the crash. The bus driver and four juveniles also sustained minor injuries.
Lund says the Jeep driver was cited for failure to maintain lane and failure to stop for school bus loading or unloading.
