(Clarkesville) – Planning for the 54th Annual Mountain Laurel Festival is underway and the planning committee is working hard to prepare a fun- filled weekend for residents and visitors alike.
The annual arts and crafts festival, scheduled for May 20th-21st, is held in downtown Clarkesville on the the third weekend of May each year. More than 100 volunteers, representing service clubs, businesses and individuals, participate in the event that attracts thousands of people to the streets of downtown.
Friday night kicks off the festivities with live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show in Pitts Park. On Saturday, following the popular Lion’s Club parade at 10am, nearly 100 exhibitors from throughout the region will bring their juried arts and crafts to this prestigious show. Live entertainment will be going on throughout the day at the gazebo and unique cuisine will be served in the food court. A Kids Zone will also be set up for the younger attendees. The Saturday event will conclude with the Volunteers for Literacy Duck Race in the Soque River.
