A five-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle. The crash happened on Bells Ferry Road in Elbert County Thursday evening.
State troopers say the boy entered the road from a private driveway and ran into the path of a northbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The boy, who is from Elberton, was flown to Greenville Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup, 53-year-old Nicky Allen James, also of Elberton, was not hurt.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team assisted state troopers from Hartwell with the investigation.
