The Sansone Group from St. Louis, MO will start construction at the end of March on a 22- thousand square foot development on the vacant land right next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Cornelia.
Doug Sansone tells Now Habersham that they jumped at the opportunity to do business in Habersham County. “We have a relationship with Wal-Mart and they were selling the property. We looked into it and found Cornelia to be a good investment.”
Retailers also see the future development as a prime location. Sansone says tenants are already booked before the first brick is laid. “We’ll have CATO, Rue 21, Shoe Show, Little Caesars and Sally Beauty to start.”
Sansone Group bought the land in February for $825,000 and plans to spend $5 million developing the project. Construction should be complete by August.
Sansone says the acquisition in Habersham County is part of his real estate firm’s strategy of buying near anchored shopping centers in efforts to move into new markets in the Midwest and Southeast.
The Sansone Group is a growing company, increasing their “brokerage transaction volume” from $134 million in 2012 to $240 million last year.
