The 4th Annual VFL Duck Race is heading Habersham’s way and now’s the time to join in the race. More than 2,000 yellow rubber ducks will race a quarter-mile stretch of the Soque River at Pitts Park in Clarkesville on Saturday, May 16. The race is this year’s grand finale to the Mountain Laurel Festival.
Duck adoption tickets are only $5. Every ticket you buy increases your chances of winning a share of $1,000 in cash prizes. PLUS, every ticket you buy will be matched, dollar for dollar, through a generous matching grant from a donor with the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation. That means your tax deductible donation is doubled, with all proceeds going to support Volunteers for Literacy of Habersham County (VFL).
Empowering people through literacy so they can lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
VFL is the only literacy-based United Way agency in Habersham County. It provides valuable tools and training to county residents from pre-school through senior adults. The Book Bank, Scripps District Spelling Bee, Little Free Libraries, Visiting Author programs, GED Scholarships, English as a Second Language classes and LiFT University are just some of the programs and projects VFL sponsors. All of them are focused on fulfilling VFL’s mission of “Empowering people through literacy so they can lead more productive and fulfilling lives.” You can be a part of that mission by simply signing up for the race.
Tickets can be purchased online through the link here on nowhabersham.com or by visiting the VFL website directly at https://www.vflhabersham.com/store/p11/2015_Duck_Race_Tickets.html.
