2nd phase of Cleveland Bypass set to begin in the spring

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Transportation announces the construction contract for Phase 2 of the Cleveland Bypass was awarded to G.P.’s Enterprises of Auburn, Georgia today. Phase 2 will begin at the intersection of SR 115 and Phase 1 of the Cleveland Bypass and continue around the northwest portion of town to intersect at SR 11/US 129 making a new intersection across from Hulsey Road, north of Cleveland.

“Once completed, the Cleveland Bypass will improve mobility for Locals and Tourists by directing through traffic around Cleveland minimizing congestion into the Square. We look forward to completing this work for you,” explained Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer.

The contract completion date is September 30, 2017 and the contract amount is $23.5 million. Construction is expected to begin Spring of 2015.
