Clarkesville is putting out the welcome mat for visitors to its Fall Festival. The second annual event takes place tonight, Friday, October 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. downtown.
Clarkesville Main Street Director Colby Moore says this year’s event will be “bigger and better than ever.” It will include hayrides, live music, craft vendors, a cornhole tournament with prizes, food trucks, games, and a bouncy house.
Various businesses will remain open late so that festivalgoers can get in some evening shopping.
In preparation for the festival, the city has closed its downtown parking lots. Visitors may use the municipal lot, the old courthouse lot, or the parking lot behind the buildings on the West side of the square.
Not the ‘little’ red apple festival
While the event may seem like an abbreviated version of Cornelia’s Big Red Apple Festival, Moore says they’re not in competition.
“It [Clarkesville’s Fall Festival] will always be on a Friday. It will never compete with the Big Red Apple Festival. We work pretty well with the other municipalities to not double book things for that reason,” he tells Now Habersham.
Moore adds that this week’s festival is “just another opportunity for Habersham County folks to enjoy the pretty weather.”
