Habakkuk 3:17-18, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
The other day as I drove around Gainesville, I noticed a young man running. His build, hair, and even stride reminded me of my son, Benjamin. I couldn’t take my eyes off him as he pounded the pavement, unaware that I was staring. As I pulled in an open parking lot I thought of the verse in Habakkuk. Life is a series of ups and downs – twists and turns – joy and sorrow – good times and bad times – healthy times and sick times. There are no warnings. No flashing yellow lights. When life decides to take a turn for better or worse, it does so whether we like it or not. But through it all, God is still God. And He is good.
Faith comes when we believe no matter what life throws our way, God is with us. He doesn’t turn His back; He doesn’t take a vacation; He doesn’t call a meeting to try and figure out a solution; He will turn for good what Satan intended to do to harm.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Whatever you may be going through in your life, know that God is with you. Rejoice because the King of kings and Lord of lords is on your side.
