12 people killed on Georgia’s roads during long Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Traffic crashes across Georgia during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period resulted in 12 traffic deaths. This year, the holiday travel period was 102-hours long. It began at 6 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 27, and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Sun., Dec. 1.

Statewide, Georgia State Troopers investigated 556 traffic crashes that resulted in 214 injuries and nine fatalities. Three other traffic deaths were reported by local authorities in the metro Atlanta area.

In addition to the traffic crash investigations, 325 people were arrested for driving under the influence.
