(Cleveland)- A double wide mobile home in White County was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon. County fire units were dispatched to 366 Oglethorpe Lane, off Eli Knob west of Cleveland at 3:23 PM. The fire was discovered by a neighbor who called 9-1-1, but the home was well involved and was completely destroyed by the time fire units arrived.
There was no one at the residence at the time of the fire, but fire officials said a family pet died in the fire.
The home was located on a single lane road which challenged fire units who had to send in a single tanker truck at a time to supply water to extinguish the blaze. The blaze started a woods fire around the home and a Georgia Forestry unit was dispatched to plow a fire break around the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s office.
