1 injured in rear-end wreck on GA 17

A two-vehicle accident on GA 17 disrupted traffic west of Clarkesville during rush hour Friday morning. The accident occurred at the intersection of GA 17 at Amy’s Road.

Habersham County Emergency Services and Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:55 a.m. to the accident. .

The two vehicle accident involved a Jeep Wrangler and a Ford Escape. Both vehicles were traveling towards GA 115 when the Jeep attempted a right turn onto Amy’s Road. The Ford attempted to avoid the Jeep but made contact with the rear of the Jeep with its right front. The Jeep left the roadway causing it to flip on its side and coming to rest at the corner of Amy’s Road. The Ford came to rest in the adjacent yard.

The driver of the Jeep was transported by ambulance with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford was not transported.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on GA 17 for nearly an hour. GA 17 was closed for approximately 20 minutes while the towing company up righted the Jeep and cleared the debris.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident. Now Habersham has reached out to GSP for the incident report. This story will be updated.
