A flash fire severely burned a woman over the weekend in Alto. Officials say the 28-year-old was apparently priming the carburetor on her stalled vehicle after running out of gas. The vehicle backfired and the fuel on her hands caught fire.
The woman, who has not been identified, suffered serious burns to her face, neck, hands, and arms
Habersham 911 dispatched crews to the scene on Grant Street around 10:37 a.m. Saturday. Due to the extent of her injuries, Air Life 2 flew her to the Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Center in Atlanta.
Her condition is unknown at this time.
