Here’s what transpired on Friday night, which marked Week Twelve and concluded the regular season.
Towns County 38, Rock Springs Christian 0 (THUR)
The Indians tied their program record with a seventh win to close out their season in a rare Thursday night game against Rock Springs Christian. Alex Baert scored a 43-yard TD on the third play, and Towns scored on each of its first five possessions in taking a 35-0 halftime lead. Dustin Barrett added two TD runs and a TD pass to Sam Sarafin, who had two TDs in total as well.
#8 Jackson County 53, Habersham Central 6
Jackson County rolled to its first-ever region title with a dominating effort in a 53-6 win. A 29-point first quarter spelled doom for Habersham, as a pair of blocked punts went for TDs, Daylan Maxwell had a 13-yd TD, and RJ Knapp III hit Landon Jones on a 27-yd TD all in the first eight minutes of the game. Bryce Garrison and Kaleb Culver had the blocked punt TDs, and a Christopher Burrows chip-shot field goal before the break had the score at 32-0. Maxwell added a 63-yard TD and a 66-yard TD in the second half, while Jayson Lee had a 2-yard score. In that mix, Paris Wilbanks threw a 78-yard TD to Tylon Davis.
#2 Jefferson 24, Oconee County 19
CJ Hays had a 74-yd TD on the first play of the game, and it was a lead the Dragons wouldn’t release. Colton Grant added a 1-yd score to push Jefferson up 14-3, and it was a tight battle to the final whistle, though they won the region championship yet again. It marks a fourth straight championship for the Dragons, making the senior class the first 4-time champs in school history.
Lumpkin County 29, Pickens 22
The Indians rebounded with a solid 29-22 win over Pickens, and held a 21-3 lead at the half.
Rabun County 31, Elbert County 23
Rabun County rebounded with a tough win at The Granite Bowl in Elberton, taking a 31-23 final. Elbert took an early 14-0 lead before the Wildcats stormed back. Ty Truelove threw a 5-yard TD to Reed Lafevers to get Rabun back in the game in the second. On the next play, Reed Burrell had a pick-six for the game-tying score. The go-ahead came on a Truelove gutsy 6-yd TD run where he dove and was rolled into the granite stands. Elbert had a TD in the second half, but the extra point missed. Lake Evans caught a 15-yard TD from Truelove to create some margin at 28-20. Each side added a field goal from there.
White County 55, Johnson 8
The Warriors took a 55-8 blowout win to close their season in style, taking three of their final four games to gain some traction for next year. The scoring: Savion Anderson 20-yd TD, Alex Freeman-Reid Penrose 15-yd TD, Freeman-Davey Waller 20-yd TD, all for a 21-0 first quarter lead. In the second, Freeman hit John Jarrard on a 10-yard TD, then he threw another to Anderson for a 10-yard strike. Anderson added a 6-yard TD run, and Freeman had a passing TD of 28 yards to Zach Godfrey for a 49-0 halftime lead. Brian Robinson threw an 8-yard TD to Hayden Weakley for the 55-0 lead before Johnson got a garbage-time score.

Then Tate Kirk had a 23-yd TD pass to Ty Sorrells, with a Jace Lyle 2-point conversion for the 17-0 lead. Sorrells had a 33-yard TD in the second, and Lyle added a 36-yard score for a 31-0 halftime lead. Commerce wasn’t done – Lyle had a punt return for a TD, Blake Spear had a pick six, then Kirk had a 19-yard TD to Spear. Commerce took a 45-0 lead into the final quarter. Lyle put a stamp on it with a 72-yard TD.
Oglethorpe County 42, Banks County 20
The Leopards’ search for their first win came up short in a 42-20 season-ending loss to Oglethorpe.
Union County 39, North Cobb Christian 35 (THUR)
The Panthers capped off their season with a thrilling, last-second 38-35 win over North Cobb Christian. Bentley Rich had an early TD of 58 yards, and Chetley Cox had a 4-yard TD, and then again from 30 yards as Union led 21-16 at the break. NCC went on a run to go up 29-24 as the Panthers notched only a field goal. Then things got crazy. An interception changed the game, as Cox hit Micah Wallace for a 7-yard TD, and Cox completed the 2-point try to Jax Dillinger. Union was up 32-29 with just over three to play. North Cobb rallied back with a go-ahead TD with 1:35 remaining, up 35-32. The Panthers drove the whole field and scored with 16 seconds to go on Rich’s 1-yard run.
