Two Cleveland residents face drug charges after Hall County traffic stop

Hall County deputies arrested two Cleveland residents on felony drug charges following a traffic stop in Hall County.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Nathaniel Redd, 46, and Angelia Simmons, 48, were arrested around 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, following a traffic stop on Skitts Mountain Drive near Callus Mill Road.

Deputies say Redd was the driver of a pickup truck that failed to stop at a stop sign on Home Place Road and Skitts Mountain. Simmons was a passenger in the vehicle. When deputies smelled an odor of alcohol, they asked Redd to step out of the vehicle and received consent to search the truck.

As a result of the search, deputies say they found two THC pens, THC wax, approximately 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, less than an ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two firearms, and an open container of alcohol.

Deputies charged Redd with two counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He also faces misdemeanor charges for failing to stop at a sign, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession and use of drug-related objects, and DUI-alcohol/less safe.

Authorities charged Simmons with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Deputies booked Redd and Simmons at the Hall County Jail. Both remained in jail as of Wednesday morning, June 7.
