Two alleged heroin traffickers arrested in Mt. Airy

A man and woman suspected of trafficking heroin face charges following their arrests this weekend in Mt. Airy.

46-year-old Michael Christopher Kote of Longmont, Colorado, and 23-year-old Sylvia Marie Hoss of Trilby, Florida, were arrested Saturday during a traffic stop at Georgia Highway 15 North near the Toccoa Highway.

A Habersham County deputy stopped the pair for window tint violation and brake light malfunction. What the officer discovered was $3,420 worth of illegal narcotics and $1,269 in cash, according to officials.

“During the traffic stop the Habersham County Deputy found Heroin, marijuana, mushrooms, MDMA, THC wax, THC edible,” states a press release from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement office was called to assist with this investigation.

Kote and Hoss were charged with trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, possession with intent to distribute THC wax and edible, both a scheduled I narcotic.

They were transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
