Tigers roar past North Hall in Dawsonville [VIDEO]

It was an easy night for the Dawson County Tigers as they cruised past visiting North Hall on Friday night in Dawsonville, 30-7.

The Tigers (3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak, winning for the first time in nearly a month. Dawson County had started out the season 2-0 before a bye week, resulting in a #5 state ranking in Class 3A. However, losing starting quarterback Coey Watson to a Grade 2 MCL strain in his knee left the Tigers without their leader in a tough loss to West Hall in Week 4.

Watson returned for Week 5’s matchup with White County, but the Warriors (5-1), in the midst of an incredible turnaround season, won a shootout at Dawson County, moving the Tigers to 2-2 on the season.

With Watson continuing to be on the mend, the Tigers had little trouble putting North Hall (1-5) away in Week 6.

Sevaughn Clark ripped off run after run, getting Dawson to the one-yard line on the opening drive, where Watson polished it off with a touchdown run. Peyton Allen notched a 33-yard field goal later in the first to put the Tigers up 10-0.

Dawson then got a 25-yard TD pass from Watson to Ryan Glass just before the break to go up 17-0. A scoreless third quarter kept the Trojans within striking distance, but Clark scored two touchdowns to put the home team up 30-0 before the Trojans got on the board with a touchdown.

Dawson County takes on Union County in Blairsville in Week 7 in a region game with playoff implications, while North Hall looks to rebound when hosting a winless Lumpkin County team at the Brickyard.
