It has become a favored event in Clarkesville, Georgia: dinner, dancing, live DJ, bar, live auction and the crowning of the king and queen of Mardi Gras 2025.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the Sign and Facade Grant which gives commercial properties within the Clarkesville City Limits the ability to apply for funding which covers 50% for signage up to $2,500 contribution. The grant has been instrumental in delivering symmetry to the Historical District around the Square.
The fun starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the Habersham Event Center located at 583 Grant Street in Clarkesville, Georgia.
You must be 21 and over to participate and costumes are encouraged. Some participants wear gowns and tuxedos while others choose costumes for Mardi Gras. Masks are the favorite choice of the evening.
The event is catered by Sweet Breads for the entree with side dishes being donated by local restaurants. It wouldn’t be Mardi Gras without Mayor Barrie Aycock’s amazing Bread Pudding. A cash bar is available.
A live auction will be held with auctioneer Wallace Wenn to help guide the winning bid. Some items up for consideration are a Fly Fishing Event, a Cabin Stay, art, and fire arms.
“I am always happy to get back in the community again,” Wenn said of the upcoming event. “It is fun to catch up on my former life and enjoy the atmosphere of the event.”
Tickets are available for sale at Clarkesville City Hall, located at 123 Laurel Dr, Clarkesville, GA. Group tables are available as well as sponsorships.
