Event to benefit local library
(Clarkesville) – The Friends of the Clarkesville-Habersham County Library have put together a very special program for their annual Book and Author Luncheon this year: a tribute to beloved Clarkesville artist and author John Kollock, who captured uniquely the spirit of the Northeast Georgia Mountains and its people.
The Tribute to John Kollock will be held on Saturday, March 5th at noon in the new Commons Building on the campus of Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia. Guest speaker will be Emory Jones, White County author and historian, whose most recent works include the novel The Valley Where They Danced and the documentary Memories of a Mountain Shortline, produced with David Greear. Emory knew John well and worked with him on many projects.
The Friends of the Library are grateful to Mrs. Nancy Kollock and her family for their generous support of this event. A display documenting John Kollock’s work and life will feature personal items, photographs and sketches. In addition, books and DVDs will be available for purchase to benefit the Library.
To purchase individual tickets or a table for this special tribute event, please contact the Clarkesville Habersham-County Library front desk at (706) 754-4413 for assistance. Tickets are $25 per person and include a delicious buffet luncheon. Deadline for purchasing tickets is February 27th .
