Thursday Region Recap: Five teams advance to region finals!

Season ends for Raider girls and boys teams

Thursday was the most intense night of action yet for our local programs in their respective region tournaments.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL (BOYS)

The Raiders fell as the #6-seed to #3 Dacula, 82-57, ending their season.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL (GIRLS)

The #5-seed Lady Raiders fell to #4 Gainesville, 69-49, ending their season.

WHITE COUNTY (GIRLS)

The #3-seed Lady Warriors fell to #2-seed Marist in the region semifinals, 48-36. White County is forced to play on the road for the first round of the state playoffs, and will determine whether they are a #3- or #4- seed in Saturday’s region Consolation Game at 3 PM at Chestatee against the Lady War Eagles.

STEPHENS COUNTY (BOYS)

The #2-seed Indians defeated #3 Madison County, 55-52. Stephens County takes on top-seeded St. Pius on Friday at 8:30 PM in the region title game. Regardless, the Indians will be at home in the first round of the state playoffs.

JEFFERSON (GIRLS)

The top-seeded and #1-state ranked Jefferson Lady Dragons defeated #5-seed East Jackson, 61-51. The Lady Dragons have stamped a home playoff game, and now go for the region title and #1 seed for the playoffs on Saturday at 7 PM against #2 Hart County.

JEFFERSON (BOYS)

The #3-seed Dragons defeated #2 Hart County, 36-34. Kam Robinson scored 12 and Owen Parker 10. Jefferson has already assured a playoff spot, but will now battle for the region title at 8:30 PM on Saturday against #1 Morgan County.

RABUN COUNTY (GIRLS)

The #1-seed Rabun County Lady Wildcats downed #4 Monticello, 71-55 for their 23rd straight win. The Lady Cats secure a home playoff game, and set up a huge rematch win the region title game with #2-seed and bitter rivals Banks County on Friday at 7 PM in Elberton.

RABUN COUNTY (BOYS)

The #6-seed Rabun County Wildcats fell to #2 Banks County, 65-61. The Wildcats will now play in the region consolation game Friday at 5:30 PM against Union County.

BANKS COUNTY (GIRLS)

The #2-seed Banks County girls fell to #6-seed Elbert, 51-46. The Lady Leopards are set for a consolation game against Monticello on Friday in Elberton at 4 PM.

BANKS COUNTY (BOYS)

The #2-seed Leopards took care of Rabun County, 65-61. Carl Cleveland led with 19 points and 19 rebounds, while Pierce Martin added 18 points and 5 assists. Banks runs its win streak to nine, and will play in the region title game against #1-seed Elbert County, who they beat in the last matchup. The Leopards are guaranteed a home playoff game, but would love the top seed.

UNION COUNTY (BOYS)

#4-seed Union County fell to top-seeded Elbert, 52-41. The Panthers will take on Rabun County in the consolation game at 5:30 PM on Friday in Elberton to determine the 3/4 seed heading into the state tournament.
