Electrical service has been restored to thousands of customers in Northeast Georgia left in the dark by Sunday’s storms.
As of mid-day Monday, July 3, fewer than 200 Georgia Power customers in the region were still waiting for their lights to come back on. Most of those customers were in Madison County with a few outages remaining in Rabun County.
The state’s electric cooperatives have also made progress; fewer than 2,000 outages remained Monday afternoon, down from 15,000 on Sunday.
Habersham EMC fully restored service to its members by Monday morning and Jackson EMC had only a few remaining outages Monday afternoon.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Blue Ridge EMC was still working to restore service to 260 members in Towns and Union counties.
