A teenage boy was critically injured over the weekend when an SUV struck him as he walked along a Hall County road.
On Sunday, April 16, at approximately 8:38 p.m., state troopers responded to the pedestrian crash on Harmony Church Road, west of Harmony Hall Drive. Their preliminary investigation indicates the teen was walking with another juvenile east with the flow of traffic when an eastbound SUV struck the teenager.
“The SUV struck the pedestrian with its right front. The pedestrian was thrown into a mailbox and came to rest in a ditch on the right shoulder of the roadway,” says Georgia State Patrol Public Information Officer Konswello Monroe.
The driver told authorities they did not notice the pedestrian due to his dark clothing and the lack of lighting in the area. Monroe says the driver remained on the scene.
The injured teen was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville in critical condition. The incident is still under investigation.
